ESTHER JOY KING RELEASES STATEMENT AFTER INFLATION COSTS INCREASE MORE THAN EXPECTED IN AUGUST

EAST MOLINE, IL–Esther Joy King, Republican nominee for Illinois’ 17th Congressional District, released this statement after inflation costs increased unexpectedly in August. Food prices are expected to increase by 11 percent this year and electricity costs have risen by nearly 16 percent for families.

“People here in Central and Northwestern Illinois know costs keep going up because they’re living the pain—high prices at the grocery store and in their electric bills everyday,” said King. “And adding insult to injury, Washington Washington only seems to be making the problem worse by continuing to pass bills that raise taxes and make American oil and gas production more difficult. Unfortunately, this is a result of politicians, like my opponent, who are putting their own extreme agendas over the concerns of the people they’re running to represent.”

Economics continue to be top of mind for voters and yesterday, King released a new TV ad focused on addressing record-breaking inflation and high energy costs because of Washington’s overspending and anti-domestic energy policies.

In contrast, King’s opponent, Eric Sorensen, has supported the Democrats’ latest $740 billion climate spending deal, which more than 230 economists warned would make inflation worse.
